What is homeopathy?

I hear this question often! Homeopathy is holistic, and is its own complete system of medicine based on the Law of Similars, also known as "like cures like." Homeopathy has its own guiding philosophy and therapeutics, and relies on the Organon from its founder, Dr. Samuel Hahnamenn. In homeopathy, symptoms serve as a guide to point to the remedy that can best help the client get better. The homeopathic remedy then acts as a catalyst for the body to move through the symptoms of illness.
Another question which typically follows is, "What does the Law of Similars" mean? One way to understand the Law of Similars is to see how the client's symptoms manifest. So, for instance, if a client was sick with a cold or flu-like illness with a cough, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, and itchy eyes, the homeopath would look for a remedy which was "similar" to the symptoms of the client. The symptoms of the homeopathic remedy are similar to the symptoms the client is experiencing, thus helping the body to recognize and overcome the illness pattern.
